Is Defence Still a Thing?

pistons 1WHAT IS GOING ON? The league is alight with scoring in the first 51 games of the season. The league is averaging 112.9 PPG with an average pace of 101.8. Both categories are up more than 3 points from last season. As I am writing this the Pistons are currently in overtime with the Sixers, with a tied score of 128 to 128. I’m sorry but what? Am I seeing this correctly? Apparently, the barely changed Pistons who averaged 103 PPG last year are currently averaging 110, AND pushing teams like the Sixers to overtime. Now, this is immensely early days, and this is the only ludicrous and panicked article I will write about this. (Ahem, Celtics early struggles) This is not an article about the Pistons, I was just using them as an example. The whole league is doing very well offensively and seems as though teams are just not playing defense. It seems as though this year will hopefully be a breakout year offensively, and while there are still some very good defensive teams like Toronto, Indiana, and Oklahoma, it looks like we are in for an exciting year offensively.
